Common Name: “Refresher”

If some time has passed since your last dive and you want to get out into the water again, taking a quick refresher class is the best way to prepare to dive after a break. Do you remember what an NDL is? How do you get your dive computer into "planning" mode? What are the five correct steps for an ascent? What do I do if my buddy runs out of air? Do you know the answers to those questions?

If you're struggling to remember what CESA stands for, you should come to PCH and let us bring you back up to speed. We'll make sure that your re-introduction to the world of scuba is quick, effortless and above all, safe.

It is also a common refrain for all of our newly certified divers that they tell their friends they are now a diver and someone says, "Hey! It's been ages since I've been diving, we should go some time!" If you refer that diver back to PCH Scuba for their refresher, we'll be happy to extend to you a $25 credit towards your next class purchase.

Who can participate…

Any diver of any certification level.

What is the class like…

We will review the basics of dive theory, including the effects of nitrogen on the body, and if you're an Enriched Air Nitrox diver, the effects of oxygen. Then we'll head into the pool to work on the 20 basic skills every diver needs to know. The class lasts about three hours, but can vary depending on how long it's been since you've been diving.

Where will you learn…

The Scuba Review is taught at either the Hubert Humphrey Pool or the Cleveland High School pool.

When is the class offered…

This class is offered every weekend with the exception of major holidays.

How much does it cost…

The Scuba Review costs $99. It can also be bundled together with a Catalina Weekend, and the Open Water Upgrade for divers that haven't taken the Peak Performance Buoyancy class or the Enriched Air Nitrox class yet. Contact us to find out more!

What is this “Open Water Upgrade” you keep mentioning?

People aren’t born hitting home runs and we’re not born hovering motionless inches above reefs 60 feet underwater for an hour (with the possible exception of Jacques Cousteau). We feel it is important that we not just certify safe divers, but we want to work hard to make sure that you are a GOOD diver too, and the way that happens is through practice, practice, practice.

A good diver is known not by how many dives they have, or the cost and shininess of their equipment. A good diver is known by the quality of their buoyancy control. To help really get you up to speed fast in your new sport, we offer a combined package of the Peak Performance Buoyancy class and the single most popular continuing education class, Enriched Air Nitrox to our Open Water students for an additional $299. These two classes together, focus entirely on the quality of your diving, and extending your time under water. The best part is that we can structure your training so that you can accomplish all of it, Open Water, Peak and Nitrox, right in the two weekend time schedule of your Open Water class with only a minimal amount of extra work! If you upgrade your open water class with Peak and Nitrox, you won’t incur any extra travel or equipment rental costs that you would if you took those classes later, and if you choose to use Nitrox that weekend, we can arrange to have Nitrox tanks ready for you at a small cost.

Your Open Water Upgrade can be added to your shopping cart at the time of purchase!
